New Topic Mutha: My new EQ2 toon and leveling plans
So, my ranger on Nagafen is a dime-a-dozen, not very sought after. I thought I would try a toon with more utility - coercer - but don’t want a long grind to 80.
Well it just so happens my 7 y/o son has been begging me to play EQ2. So I plan to drop my toon somewhere like splitpaw each night I log off and allow my son to play to his hearts content. In fact i have four kids (started early and never quit!) and plan to allow them all to play this one toon whenever they want when I am not playing. I have given the basic tutorial of how to play to all of them haha - my own powerleveling service! With the expansion all alts get +10% xp bonus for each lvl 80 toon on same account - nice! This in addition to a significant speed boost to the 20-70 level grind.
So I created my Arsai coercer tonight - Theorec. I wanted Theoric meaning skilled in theory - it was taken arrgh - so Theorec it is. I plan on using Dark Elf illusion as my look however, wanted the Arsai attributes of safefall, glide, and runspeed. I immediately moved my toon to Gorowyn as I have never leveled there. I will use this thread to chronicle my progress.

I certainly think it is a novel idea. I am not sure if I like it though just because I am sure for *some* people (not me) it would almost feel like a requiement for being uber, and I am not a big fan of requirements (psuedo or not). As a whole though I think it is a great idea for getting people to see your added content. The other night you mentioned to me the haunted mansion in Loping Plains for EQ2’s holiday stuff that I didn’t even know existed. I would not have known about it had you not mentioned it, and it was one of the best quests I have done in months on EQ2. The idea of having a UI element that shows all these daily updates is brilliant.

Murderers and criminals arrive as Patch 3 comes to Age of Conan

It’s been a while in development, as the devs ironed out bugs and tweaked the system to get it just right, but the much-anticipated ‘Patch 3′ goes live this morning. The main feature it brings to Age of Conan is the PvP consequence system. No longer will players be able to gank other players without fear of reprisal. Accumulated ‘murder points’ will result in the dishonorable becoming outcasts from society, forced to rely upon a scattered few ’shady camps’ for their supplies and rez points, attacked by guards on sight.
This means that being an unscrupulous PvPer will result in a whole new way to play the game, rather than just an arbitrary penalty. It looks a whole lot better than the original mooted plans for AoC, which involved jails and repetitive tasks that other players could watch you being forced to do.

AoC’s New Update - Notoriety is Now Live - Ten Ton Hammer
Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures has received the next part of the long awaited PvP update today along with a slew of other changes and updates. The patch has introduced the new Notoriety system that will now punish players for killing those of a much lower level by flagging them as a criminal and if they persist, a murderer. Shady Camps have been added for these outcast criminals to shop and if they so chose begin their journey to redemption.
PvP Notoriety System
- The Notoriety system will be introduced in update. You can be flagged as a Criminal or Murderer depending on your actions in PvP.
- Criminals and Murderers can trade with their guild NPCs, and with shady merchants and bankers.
- Murderer Resurrection Points have been added, and are marked on the minimap. Murderers can only resurrect at these locations. Other players cannot see murderer resurrection points unless they are also murderers.
- PvP XP is now split between all attacking groups and individuals, based on their relative damage.
- Outlaw camps have been added in several adventure playfields and hubs, for use by Murderers
- Outlaw camp vendors sell green and blue potions.
- A player attacking another, who is of too low level to yield PvP XP to the attacker., will now be flagged as a criminal for a few minutes.
- The cost for using shady teleporters is relative to the number of murderpoints the player has.
- When you are in a playfield that is too high level for you, you will receive a debuff called Free Prey. While this debuff is on you, attackers are free to kill you without being penalized with criminal status or murder points.
- All guards should attack murderers now.
- Redeemer npcs in the Outlaw camps will give murderers quests which will enable them to reduce their murderpoints.
- When awarding PvP xp to a group of players, the base XP is now calculated based on the highest level character in the group (similar to how PvE XP is calculated).
- Guards can now use ranged weapons.
- It should no longer be possible to engage in pvp on pvp servers inside raid instances.
- No PvP xp reward will be given if a guard helped you kill someone.
- The criminal buff will be reset to 5 minutes if you hit your target again while you have the buff.
- All guards in Conall’s Valley, Conarch Village, Old Tarantia, and Khemi will now attack players when appropriate.
- If you are a Murderer you will have access to a Criminal chat channel.
- Criminals will never get help from a guard (when attacked by players and NPCs).
- Innocents will get help from guards when getting attacked (by players and NPCs).

Do you guys think SWG had a lot more potential before the NGE, or do you think it had effectively been reached (PRE NGE - and I don’t mean the changes from the NGE - I mean had it already ‘run its course’ as an MMO?)
For one I think they could have done a lot more with the Flight Sim Aspects of it (I really enjoyed that part of the game).
Word of mouth key to bringing Age of Conan players back, says Craig Morrison

Since Craig ‘Sirillon’ Morrison took over as the director of Age of Conan, even the gnarliest curmudgeon would have trouble claiming that things hadn’t changed for the better. They might not have changed enough for some people’s tastes, but work has been done and is still ongoing. Now, Craig talks to Eurogamer.net (at considerable length) about AoC, the changes that have been made and those that are yet to come.
Although there’s plenty of information, there isn’t all that much new information; players will be glad to know that the hope is for the PvP consequence system to go live ‘early next week, if not this week’ with Ymir’s Pass following soon after.
When it comes to enticing back lost subscriptions, Craig places great value on word of mouth among the players themselves, observing that people who are having a good time in AoC will naturally pass on that information: ‘… that’s what we focus on - making the game as good as we possibly can, so that our own players become advocates for the game.‘
