One Shots: Quiet night in Old Tarantia
Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Age of Conan, One Shots
It’s been a while since someone has sent in a panoramic screenshot from a game, but we’re glad to have a chance to showcase another lovely large image for you. This one comes to us from Zypher in Age of Conan and is quite enormous — and richly detailed — at its full size. Since there wasn’t much of a note to go along with this other than to let us know it was a “nice view of Old Tarantia“, we’re going to flesh it out with a bit of back-story, courtesy of the excellent AoCWiki entry:
Old Tarantia sits at the end of a huge bridge that leads to the rest of the bustling city, divided elsewhere by high walls and guarded gates. It uses its own docks and has a massive gate sitting on the Road of Kings. All are patrolled regularly, and watched for dangerous visitors. It is the root of the city itself, where the rest of the capital grew outward from, and is the base of the royal palace of King Conan himself. The shining towers of the palace rise high into the sky, overlooking the rest of the city and, some might say, the rest of Aquilonia.
Are you leveling through the treacherous lands of Hyboria? If so, we’d love to see some screenshots from you. If not, that’s okay — we can use all the One Shots we can get, from any MMO! Just email those to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and a description of what we’re seeing. We’ll post it out here for everyone to enjoy and give you the credit.

One Shots: An interesting point of view
Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Age of Conan, One Shots
Now here’s one we don’t often see — an image captured from the monster’s point of view. You can almost hear the skittering of chitinous legs across the ground, the crunch of weaponry into exoskeleton. And of course, it wouldn’t be Age of Conan without blood and body parts flying around. Today’s wild One Shots comes to us courtesy of Niels W. who writes in: Hi! I’ve attached a screenshot of a nocturnal combat scene against scorpions in Kheshatta. It shows the action-filled and rather bloody combat style that Age of Conan has to offer. I hope you enjoy it. It’s certainly one of the most unique shots we’ve gotten in terms of combat!
One Shots is in need of your screenshots, so while you’re out getting your game time in, why not send us some of your images! It’s easy to do. Just email them to oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and a quick description. We’ll post them out here and give you the credit — bonus points for interesting camera-work!

One Shots: A deadly flower
Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Age of Conan, One Shots
In the southernmost areas of Stygia lies a dangerous, marshy area that contains a rare, beautiful, and dangerous flower that can be found nowhere else. No - we’re not talking about the lovely lady standing in the middle of today’s Age of Conan screenshot, although one could certainly argue that she’s also beautiful and dangerous. We’re talking about the purple lotus, favored by assassins for its poisonous properties. This picture was sent in to us by Thomas, who explains: Here’s another [screenshot]: a full image in DX10 with Godrays! My character “Callypiso” is exploring the Purple Lotus Swamp. It certainly is lovely to see.
If you’re one of the Funcom faithful, playing Age of Conan or Anarchy Online, we’d love to see some screenshots from you. All you have to do to contribute is to email your image to us at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name and a brief description. We’ll post them out here for everyone to enjoy and give you the credit.

One Shots: More still to learn
Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Age of Conan, One Shots
With Funcom offering some crazy good deals for returning players to Age of Conan, many folks are once again wandering the lands of Hyboria. Well, not just that - but it’s nice to have a sunny, hot land to wander as opposed to going out in the freezing cold. Today’s great Age of Conan One Shots comes to us from Thomas, who writes in: [This] picture is of Callypiso outside Kheshatta City with the slums behind her. She was trying to track down an old man to further her powers over the dead.
Find something worth sharing on your recent adventures? Just in the mood to show off what you’ve been doing? All you have to do is email your screenshots to us at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the game it’s from, and a quick note about what we’re seeing. We’ll post it out here and give you credit for sending it in!

One Shots: We could use a vacation here
Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Age of Conan, One Shots
With the chilly, rainy winter settling in for much of the northern hemisphere, scenes like today’s One Shots from Age of Conan are welcome sights. If you use those powers of imagination, you can almost imagine the balmy breezes coming in off the water as you disembark in a strange new land. Ray S. sent this great shot in of his first moments in town, and explains the scene: This is the view of Tesso village in Wild Lands of Zelata that greeted my Assassin Deltex when he was fresh off the boat from Old Tarantia in Age of Conan.
We love to look around the lands of Conan, but we need all of you players to send in your screenshots! All you have to do to show off the parts of the world you like best is to email your images to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com. Be sure to add in your name, the name of the game, and a quick description. We’ll put them out here on Massively for everyone to check out and give you the credit. Couldn’t be easier!

One Shots: That’s a mighty big blank you have there
Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Age of Conan, One Shots
There’s nothing quite like the sun setting across the mountains in the distance - even if the lens flares are a bit heavy at certain times! Today’s Age of Conan One Shot shows off Blamefulgecko standing near a heavy wall, waiting for the night. He writes in to tell us about his experience: This is my Bear Shaman, Omuro’s first venture into the tainted lands of Stygia. One thing that can’t be experienced from this picture though is the ambient sounds from the marketplace behind me or the fantastic soundtrack that evokes the arid wasteland that this region of the game can be described as being…………….by Crom. We’re not quite sure what would fit in the blank that Blamefulgecko left in that mighty last sentence, as that’s exactly how we got it. Perhaps “profoundly canoodled”? Your guess is as good as ours.
Citizens of Hyboria, send in your One Shots! We only have a few more. So if you’d like to make sure Age of Conan is well represented, get to emailing your images and tales to us at oneshots AT massively DOT com. Don’t forget to add your name, the name of the game, and a quick description in as well. We’ll post them out here for others to enjoy. Just realize, if you leave a blank, we’re going to make guesses!

One Shots: Fine barbarian fashion
Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Age of Conan, One Shots
When it comes to MMO fashion, shades of woody brown seem to be all the rage in the lands of Hyboria. While some opt for fur or feather, others like today’s One Shots contributor Amana, opt for fine hand-tooled leather instead. She writes in: Sometimes, amongst all the bad press, it’s easy to forget just how stunning and detailed the characters and environment inside the Age of Conan world can be. As Amana the Ranger here speaks to a villager in Conall’s Valley, you can see every detail of her outfit and gear; down to the last stitch on her belt. We’d agree - the textures in Age of Conan really are quite stupendous.
If you’ve found something in your favorite game that you feel is worth a closer look - or a bit of praise - then why not snag a screen shot and send it in to us? We’ll give your picture its 15 minutes of Internet fame and you’ll get a chance to tell people why you think that particular thing is so cool. Just email it to us at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and your thoughts. The only way it could be easier is if we played the MMO for you!

One Shots: The moon watches over
Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Age of Conan, One Shots
You never can really tell what awaits you the first time through the dark recesses of different MMOs. Will you make it through uneventfully? Will something happen on the way? Is it safe to go alone? But if we’re lucky, as we head through the dangerous areas, we may stumble across a beautiful, breathtaking scene like this one taken in Age of Conan, by today’s One Shots contributor, Skybocker. He wrote a quick note to tell us a bit more about the area: [Here's an image of] night fall over Field of the Dead, a beautiful but dangerous place. This is my second try at this game and this time I will stay longer with my guild -300-. Somehow, a fitting name for a bunch of muscle-bound men running around in skimpy clothing.
Have you found an amazing view on your travels? We love to see all MMOs from large to small, but we need you to send them in. It’s very easy to do - just mail them to oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and a quick description. We’ll post them here for everyone to enjoy.

One Shots: Fortune favors the bold
Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Age of Conan, One Shots
We’ve heard of several folks enjoying questing in Age of Conan after the recent 14-day welcome back trial. The small pile of screenshots in the One Shots mailbox would also seem to support that, too! Today’s spooky screen comes to us from Damaroth, who writes in: Was walking through the Haunted Forest on my character Damaroth in Age of Conan the other day, decided to take a shot to show off the atmosphere and DX10 effects. Even at the crack of dawn the mood is very sinister and foreboding. At night, spirits fly in the air and at all times the undead and werewolves roam about.
Things that go bump in the night, lovely landscapes, bloody battle - it’s all welcome here! Just email your MMO images to us here at oneshots [AT] massively [DOT] com along with your name, the name of the game, and a brief description. We’ll post it out here for everyone to enjoy and give you the credit.

One Shots: A mammoth difference
Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Age of Conan, One Shots
With the recent Come Back weekend for Age of Conan, we’ve gotten a few more shots of this lovely game. Of course, along with those great shots, we’re taking some heat for why we don’t post even better shots of the game from today’s contributor. He writes in: Hey this is Damaroth from Age of Conan, I check out Massively all the time and never see any good shots of the game. If it’s one of you guys posting a shot, it’s of Tortage, and the most recent one was some dank hallway that consisted of more or less two colors. Just wanted to show people how nice this game looks with all the settings cranked up.
With that said, if you think we’re not showing off your favorite game well enough, there’s an easy way to fix that; send in your own screenshots and tales! One Shots is entirely dependent on community input, so you guys make or break the depth (or non-depth) we show here. If you’d like to get in on the fun, our email address is oneshots AT massively DOT com. In return for sending in your best shots, we’ll give you the credit for sending in something we haven’t seen before. Couldn’t be easier!
